    Salama Stoves actively looks for opportunities to deliver burn awareness training, and this time teamed up with Kenya Power to do a Fire Safety Burn Awareness Training with the Kenya Scouts in Machakos for Founder’s Day on February 18th.

    Chris Beaty from Metropolitan Community College, a Welding Instructor from Omaha Nebraska has been working with Salama Stove. He has helped us find a new stove manufacturer and has given us valuable input on best practices on how to assemble the stove in the field.

    Burn Awareness – Fire Safety Training with NDMU – Kenya Scouts Aug 25th. Salama Stoves are also engaged in education initiatives around health and safety issues of open fires in the home and burn awareness – here’s what we did at the Scout training day.

    Faith’s family receive a Salama Stove

    Mercy Njoki is the mother of Faith Muthoni, they live in Wanyororo. The Salama Stove was donated as part of our Stove Donation Project for families with children who have suffered burns. [The gallery depicts the whole stove installation day and sadly shows what still remains of Faith’s terrible burn]

    We didi it! Todd, Country Manager for Salama Stoves and his friend Jamie hiked to the summit of Kilimanjaro to raise funds for the Salama Stove Project. All proceeds will go directly to Salama Stove, to help bring more stoves to families who need them, making their homes safer and healthier.

Omaha doctor creates safer stove for third-world countries

An Omaha doctor is hoping to make her mark on the world by fixing a problem that affects millions outside of our country.

It’s something basic to so many of our homes: gas turns on and blue flames flicker, for most Americans firing up the stove is simple but for billions of people, cooking is far more dangerous.

Dr. Coleen Stice is a plastic surgeon in Omaha.
